Switches with LED illumination sources and in accordance with VIVISUN Data Sheet No. LED-12-2001-04 REV.B, are available in all display types:

Type S

a a Sunlight readable legends on an opaque black background: indiscernible until illuminated. When illuminated the legends appear in color and the background remains black. Displays are dead face even in direct sunlight if they are not energized, and when illuminated at rated voltage, they produce 200 – 350 minimum foot-lamberts luminance, (see VIVISUN Technical Bulletin) depending on the color selected.

Always visible reflective white legends on an opaque black background: visible in any ambient light except darkened conditions. In darkened conditions the visible white legends can be energized to an average luminance between 0.5 to 3.0 foot-lamberts at rated voltage.

Hidden legend, a black legend on an obscure black background: When illuminated the legend appears black and the background appears in color. Type B appears dead face when un-energized. When energized, it is fully readable in daylight and has an average luminance exceeding 200 foot-lamberts. They are typically used as red warning signals, as defined in MIL-STD-411F, but are available in the colors listed for special applications.

  Type A

Reflective white, always visible legends on an obscure black background: When illuminated the legend remains white and the background appears in color. Type A does not appear lighted when un-energized, but it is fully readable in daylight when energized, with an average luminance exceeding 200 foot-lamberts. They are typically used in special applications in the colors listed.

  Type W

Always visible black legends on a white translucent background: When illuminated the legend remains black and the background appears in color. Average luminance of the background exceeds 100 foot-lamberts at rated voltage. Only available in Cap Styles H and B.

Switches with incandescent illumination sources and in accordance with VIVISUN Data Sheet No. 95-1-86-3 REV.1 are available in display types S and N.

Display type per Table 6 and listed above and character size per Table 9 and listed below are indicated by letter and number to the left or right of the switch.
Size 1 = .125", 2 = .109", 3 = .072", 4 = .156", 0 = Special Symbol, .090" = A.
